Health & Safety Engineer

Dairymaster are currently recruiting for: Health & Safety Engineer

Job Type: Full Time
Location: Dairymaster Global Headquarters, Causeway, Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland.

Role

  • Support and provide technical expertise & Health & Safety advice to Managers / Supervision / Employees to ensure legislative compliance and improve Health and Safety in the business.
  • Promote safe systems of works in line with Health & Safety standards and best practice ensuring that safety is placed at the fore of all undertakings by the organisation and protection of our colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Inspect and audit sites across Dairymaster and on customer installation sites for H&S compliance and ensure policies and procedures are being properly implemented and adhered to. Follow up and produce reports that suggest improvements when /where required.
  • Carrying out risk assessments ensuring that all documentation and method statements are up to date.
  • Support managers in performing internal risk assessments and implementing corrective actions.
  • Deliver health and safety inductions and other safety training as required.
  • Identify training needs and assist in the management of training records.
  • To assist as required in the design of training plans and training courses to ensure that appropriate training is carried out.
  • To develop health and safety procedures, policies, training material, work instructions, checklists etc. and to assist in the implementation of safety policies and procedures.
  • Managing reporting and investigation procedures for accidents/incidents to establish the root causes and preventative measures required as well as producing statistics Ensure all accidents and near misses are fully reported and investigated.
  • Advising on and implementing occupational health requirements.
  • Carry out emergency plans and fire drills. Preparation and implementation of site emergency preparedness and response plan(s).
  • Ensuring contractor safety management arrangements are established and implemented across all applicable locations.
  • Promote a positive safety culture in the company & coach employees on positive health & safety practices.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Relevant third level Qualification in Health & Safety.
  • Engineering / Manufacturing background or Electrical/Construction experience an advantage.
  • 5+ years experience as a Senior HSE & Training person in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with demonstrable and transferable skills.
  • Qualified Trainer, Manual Handling Trainer & /or Risk Assessor desirable.
  • Thorough knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
  • Strong computer literacy & proficient in the use of MS Office tools.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to represent the company in a professional manner always.
  • A demonstrable ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Proficient numerical ability to record, interpret and analyse key process data.
  • Proven experience developing and writing health and safety statements, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Demonstrable experience of accurately and successfully advising Managers on a wide range of Health and Safety related matters.
